Needless to say, Cancun has much to offer in the way of entertainment when it comes to sightseeing, activities and even nightlife. What if you want to experience something different–getting to know the local people and sampling a bit of Mexican culture? You don’t have to travel far to some remote jungle village; it’s all right here in Cancun.
There is so much more to Mexico than just mariachi bands and sombreros!
Ballet Folklórico de Cancun
Every evening at the Cancun Convention Center, there’s a dinner show featuring live music and performances. Costumed dancers depict the traditional culture and rich history of every corner of Mexico. Tickets are sold at a booth just as you enter the Convention Center.
Casa de Cultura Art Center
The scene for local cultural events, art exhibits, dance performances, plays and concerts is the Cultural Art Center. It’s located downtown on Prolongación Avenida Yaxchilan.
Teatro de Cancun
This state-of-the-art theatre features a variety of musical and artistic performances. Here you get comedy shows, stage plays, Caribbean dancing, etc. with some of the most talented performers in the continent. No reservations are required. (Located at KM 4 in the Hotel Zone)
Pirate Ship dinner and cruise
You have a couple of options here, either Captain Hook’s (daily departures 7:00pm), or Jolly Roger (Monday to Sunday 6:30pm to 10:00pm)
These dinner cruises are full of fun, live performances along with some spectacular views of the coastline by night.
Cancun Queen
This is a scenic lagoon cruise on an old classic paddle-wheel steamer. Enjoy a delectable 3-course meal along with great views as evening descends on the mangroves. There’s also dancing on the top deck. Private charters for your group are available.
Lobster Dinner Cruise
Escape the crowds in Cancun and enjoy a beautiful sunset cruise on the Nichupte Lagoon. Savor delicious lobster and steak while gliding along the lagoon and listening to the mysterious, exotic mangrove sounds. (Departs at 5:30pm in the summer months and 5:00pm in the winter months.)
V.I.P Theater or 4-D Theater
If you are a movie-goer, you will never want to watch a movie any other way after you’ve experienced the VIP theater in Cancun! Located in the Plaza Las Americas mall, the cinema boasts fully reclining, leather lounge chairs (Lazy-Boy style; they almost lay flat), and you can order food and beverages right to your seat.
The 4-D movie experience is not as relaxing but still very enjoyable, especially for the kids and adolescents in your group! It’s an interactive movie experience–the chairs move, and you may get misted with water or have wind blown in your face; corresponding with the action in the film that you’re watching.
