Chetumal Weather Conditions

CHETUMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS

INTRODUCTION

There isn’t really a bad time to go to the Yucatan but it really depends on what kind of weather you prefer. Most of the year there is beautiful sunshine but there are rainy seasons and the summer is extremely hot. During the rainy season it can rain every day and there is the chance of hurricanes and other natural disasters that affect the Yucatan. For that reason many choose to avoid coming at that time of year.

Playa del Carmen and Chetumal have been completely wiped out in the past by hurricanes and what you presently see are rebuilt cities and like any natural disaster, hurricanes can be impossible to predict far in advance.

BEST TIME OF THE YEAR TO GO

The best time of the year to travel to the Yucatan is May, when the temperatures are perfect and there is only a little rain.

YUCATAN PENINSULA RAINY SEASONS

If you are on the Caribbean coast during the rainy season (June to October) then it can rain everyday, all day. Sometimes you can get lucky and it just rains part of the day and if you are really lucky it may not rain at all. Inland however, it is a different story and although it may rain almost everyday it tends to rain at the same time of the day for a short period. In June and July this can actually be a pleasant and refreshing experience.

Rainy seasons occour:

  • October – January
  • April – July
