A large well maintained Post Classic site with many structures. It is by far the most visited due to its proximity to Cancun and the Maya Riviera. The cult of the feathered serpent is the central theme here and Chichen Itza is second only to Uxmal in its carvings and statues.

About 3 hours from Cancun on Highway 180. An alternate route is the toll road parallel to Highway 180. The rural Route 180 passes through many villages. It is 117 km from Merida.

Tour Policies

Please read and understand the policies to avoid unnecessary charges.

All tours include a private vehicles that either accommodate a maximum of 9 or 14 passengers depending on the van size.  Drivers will not allow additional passengers.

If traveling with children requiring a child safety seat please include this in the comments at checkout and we will do out best to accommodate this need at no cost.

The tour is for a maximum of 12 hours and the latest departure time is 8:00 AM to allow for a decent return time.  If a later departure time is desired we cannot guarantee a full 12 hours of tour time.

Cancellation Policy

  • Tours cancelled more than 48 hours in advance receive full refund.
  • Tours cancelled within 48 hours or are considered a "no show" will be charge 100%
  • Tours cancelled due to unforeseen causes like severe weather or vehicle breakdowns will issue full refunds or rescheduling will be an option
  • Chichen Itza Tour operates from Monday to Saturday
  • Duration: 12 h approximately (including transfers)
  • Inside the archaeological site the use of video camera requires an extra tax not included at the tour price
  • Free admission for children from 0-4 years old. Children 5-11 pay half of the adult ticket. Children taller than 4.5 ft but under 12 years old must show an ID to verify their age when boarding
  • Children over 12 years pay an adult ticket price
  • Reservations cancelled 15 days or more prior to the day of the visit are subject to an additional 20 % fee; from 4 to 14 days prior to the scheduled day of the visit are subject to an additional 50 % fee. All reservations cancelled 3 to 0 days before the date of your visit or in case of no-show will not be reimbursed
  • Changes are not permitted on the same day of the visit
  • Lockers and lifejackets at the Ik Kil cenote are not included.
  • Clients must bring the printed proof of purchase
  • It is necessary to confirm the time and location of the pickup
  • Wear fresh clothes and comfortable shoes for a walk
  • Use hat  or cap and sunglasses
  • Bring a towel and a change of clothes for the cenote
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent must be free of the following chemicals: Benzophenone, Etilhexila, Homosalate, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Octyl Ssalicylate, Octinoxate, Oxybenzone, and Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane
  • Bring extra cash or credit card for beverages at the restaurant, souvenirs and personal expenses.
