CANCUN AIRPORT CUSTOMS
While waiting for your luggage on the luggage carrousel you will notice Customs.
When you have all your possessions, you walk over and stand in one of the lines waiting to go through Custom’s check-point.
At the Custom’s check-point:
You surrendor you’re completed Customs Declaration form.
Then you are asked to press a button that will turn a light green or red. If the light is green you walk through, if it turns red they will inspect your luggage.
NOTE: Even if the Automated Selection System shows a green light, the Customs Authority may issue a verification order to corroborate the declared goods.
You must proceed to the Customs Office before going through Custom’s check-point if:
You are bringing:
- food products
- plants
- flowers or fruits
- chemicals
- pharmaceutical or biological products of agriculture use
- hazardous materials
- substances or residues
- weapons and/or ammunition
- professional equipment
- samples
- additional goods other than “Luggage and Exemptions”, subject to duties
Or
If you are carrying coin, currency, checks, travelers checks or any other monetary instrument that together exceeds the amount of $10,000 USD or its domestic or foreign equivalent.
The transportation of currency or monetary instruments is legal, however, failure to declare the total amount may lead to the seizure of currency or monetary instruments, and subject you to civil and/or criminal prosecution.
CUSTOMS DECLARATION FORM
This form is supposed to be provided to you by the airline during flight. If you were not provided with it you may request one at the Customs information counter.
Each “family” must complete a form. Persons traveling alone or in a group each fill out a form for them self.

For effects of the Customs Law, the import or export of prohibited merchandises is causal so that the customs authorities come to a precautionary distraint from said merchandises and the means of transport. Likewise, it constitutes an infraction related to the import or export of this type of merchandise and is sanctioned with a fine: Therefore, these merchandises happen to be property of the Federal State, regardless of the penal sanctions establishes by the Penal Code.

AFTER CUSTOMS
After you have gone through Immigration, collected your luggage and gone through Customs you are now in Mexico.
You now proceed through a corridor to the exit and Visitor Pick-Up Zone.
NOTE: Do NOT stop to talk to any persons in the airport corridor on your way out to the Visitor Pick-Up Zone. These are either time-share sharks, transfer sales reps or somebody trying to sell you something.
SOMETIMES: There are ladies in traditional Yucatan Mayan dress handing out free Visitor Packages. These packages contain interesting booklets, maps, coupons and such things. These ladies are separate from the sales vultures.

One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measure.
Declare larger liquids. Medications, baby formula and food, and breast milk are allowed in reasonable quantities exceeding three ounces and are not required to be in the zip-top bag. Declare these items for inspection at the checkpoint.
