The closest to Tulum (just a few minutes’ north on Highway 307), is Dreams Tulum Resort and Spa. If you’re looking for an entertaining vacation with lots of activities and commotion, this is a lively spot. It’s a beautiful, family-friendly resort with huge swimming pools and wedding packages on the spacious beachfront.
Grand Oasis Tulum
There is also Grand Oasis Tulum, which is a smaller resort, located closer to Akumal. (Akumal is known for its protected turtle nesting areas and spectacular snorkeling.)

These seem to be the most plentiful and popular choice in Tulum, especially on the beach road. With ocean views, luxurious touches, and personalized service, what’s not to love?
TIP: Every building on the Boca Paila beach road relies on solar or generator power. Wifi can be a little spotty at times. Keep in mind that this is part of the charm–you’re getting off the grid, but staying in the most sublime comfort!

Colibri Hotels
This property encompasses the separate hotels called Mi Amor, El Pez and Mezzanine, 3 of the most highly-rated hotels in the area (also a 2016 TripAdvisor winner). Mi Amor is one of the few hotels in Tulum with an infinity pool. Mezzanine is known for its excellent Thai restaurant. Decadent details include concierge and spa services, and suites outfitted with Nespresso machines and Malin + Goetz bath products, etc. This is a trendy, modern and elegant choice. For travelers who want to be in the center of things, staying in Tulum itself is a good option. There are several small hotels and cozy bed & breakfast spots. The town is not large, so you can easily explore on foot or by bike. You’re not directly on the beach, but you can be in a few minutes!
Palms Tulum
This little luxury hotel offers apartment-style rooms, with kitchenettes, sofa beds, etc. There’s a nice swimming pool in the courtyard. Bikes are provided free of charge, and the beach is about a 20-min bike ride away. Located a block from the main highway junction, you’re close to banks, laundromats, pharmacies, and fantastic restaurants. (Highway 307 & Boca Paila road)
